Bachelor Graduation Project - Individual
This project reclaims the corset as a symbol of comfort and empowerment for Gen Z women. By critically reflecting on the physical constraints and societal pressures behind the trend’s resurgence, the design challenges outdated ideals and reimagines the corset as a garment that supports both body and well-being, that is inclusive, adaptable, and expressive.
Through iterative prototyping, interviews, and user testing, a corset was developed that is easily adjustable, better fitting, and incorporates innovative features like side lacing and magnetic front closures. Instead of using traditional boning, the design integrates 4D Textiles to sculpt feminine shapes while maintaining flexibility and comfort.
The final prototype, inspired by butterfly motifs, merges aesthetic softness with structural support. It bridges historical silhouettes with contemporary needs, offering a future-forward vision for customizable garments and the integration of 3D printing in fashion design.
