Internship @ Fashion Tech Farm
Date
Sept 2021 - Jan 2022
Coached by
Marina Toeters, Rong-Hao Liang
Soft fabrication, industry context & hands-on learning
During my Bachelor internship, I joined the Fashion Tech Farm in Eindhoven, a studio and incubator focused on innovative textile production. I worked on various garment-making tasks, exploring soft fabrication techniques like sewing, laser cutting, and 3D printing directly on fabric. This hands-on experience helped me bridge digital and physical making, while gaining insight into how experimental designs are developed and scaled in a professional setting.
I also supported the organization of the first Dutch Design Week exhibition hosted at the Fashion Tech Farm, gaining behind-the-scenes experience in curating and presenting fashion tech to the public.
Beyond the technical skills, the internship gave me a deeper understanding of the fashion-tech industry: how roles are divided, how ideas are pitched to clients, and how creative processes are adapted for production. It also sparked my long-term interest in 4D textiles and laid the foundation for my later work during my Bachelor Graduation Project and Master projects.
